Sub Policy
-
SUBS ARE LMITED TO 3 GOALS. Please see league policies section for more information.
-
Any interested subs will be required to complete sub registration and select which team(s) they would like to sub for. From the registrations, the league will review all subs and place only those who are league-appropriate on the approved sub list.
-
Only subs on the approved sub list will be allowed to play. Any team using a sub who is not on the approved sub list by the start time of the game willl record an automatic loss for the night (0 goals for).
-
The sub fee is $20, which is paid to the person who is missing from the game and who sourced the sub. The sub can give cash to anyone on the team who can then give it to the absent player once they return; or the payment can be arranged through Venmo or PayPal. The league does not handle sub fees between players.
-
Subs MUST have a number on the back of their jersey. A tape number is acceptable.
-
Rostered players may only play with their own team.
-
In extenuating circumstances, the commissioner may pick rostered players from other teams to help a shorthanded team (free of charge). This will only occur if a team has 7 or fewer players. If 8 players are available including subs, the team will play with 8.
-
-
Each week, the captains are to share in the captains' chat who is missing from their team and who is subbing in their place. The opponent's captain has the right to veto a sub's participation if they feel it makes for an unfair game. The visibility into the other team's roster allows both captains to plan fairly.
-
Sub Goalies are approved separately and are arranged by the team captains when needed. There is no fee for sub goalies. If a team brings in a sub goalie who is not on the approved list, they will record an automatic loss for the game.
-
In extenuating circumstances where no approved sub goalies are available, emergency goalies may be approved by the commissioner OR a goalie from another team will be asked to play.

I know someone who wants to sub. What should they do?
-
Have them full out the sub registration form on this website and put your name as who referred them. We will follow up for more information as needed.
-
-
No approved subs are available to take my spot, but I don't want to be out the fee for this game. What can I do?
-
If someone skill-appropriate can complete sub registration and get on the approved list in time, that's fine - but they will remain on the sub list for the rest of the season. Otherwise, your team will just play with one less skater and you will not be able to recoup the cost. We encourage players to source a sub as soon as they become aware that they will miss a game to avoid last-minute scramble.
-
-
What happens if we want a few extra skaters for a game to add to our roster, but nobody is actually missing?
-
Approved subs are allowed to play as extras for a fully-present team only when the opponents' captain approves them. In the unlikely event a sub plays who is just an addition and not taking a players' spot directly, their $20 sub fee will go to the rink.

-
Can I sub for two games in one night?
-
As long as it is approved by captains of both opponents and you pay both people whose spots you are taking, yes!
-
-
I had a sub lined up, but they canceled on me right before the game. What can I do?
-
Unfortunately there is no way to prevent this from happening, but please email us and let us know so that if the behavior becomes a pattern we can remove that sub from the league.
